The ZAPPY II electric scooters is the latest version of the Zappy from Zap.
Like the original Zappy, the Zappy II features a bigger board making it easy
for larger children and adult to ride on. The manufacturer has made a number
of improvements to the Zappy; many of them stylistic. The board has been made
so it is easier to stand on. The colorations are different and more modern
as the manufacturer has responed to the market and moved away from simple
colors, dropped the orange option, and come out with a visually attractive
line of scooter. Morover, the motor is stronger and fasterand has cooling
fins. Ithe injection molded body is stronger with better fit and finish.
There is also a new rear wheel with a wider belt and a arger, mored durable
throttle handle. The grip tape on the deck also improves traction. Overall,
the Zappy II appears to be a very reliable scooter as there have been few
complaints with this one. In terms of performance, the Zappy II offers the
same feature as the Zappy: 13 mph top speed, 8 miles on battery charge, and
4-6 hours for recharge (fast charger option is available). The Zappy II is
made for street use and we have found it to be particularly effective for
city commutes. The speed assocaited with the Zappy, may make it a little bit
too fast for smaller children. The scooter easily folds down and can be
carried effectively. The scooter is somewhat heavy for carying, but compared
to scooter of coparable speed and performance, this scooter is exceptionally
light. The one problem with the Zappy is that it is about 1 inch two big to
meet the maximum carry on requirements for most airlines. Overall, this is a
scooter that we recommend and is a good value at $399 (see comparable scooters
for $500).
